Kenny
and I met around age 11; we were both raised in the North Carolina and
North Georgia Smoky Mountains. I was taking a Martial Arts Class
instructed by Kenny's' brother. Looking back, at that young age,
Martial Arts teaches us virtues that will always carry us through our
"Journey in Life”; Patience, Determination, Practice and
Persistence.
Graduating
High School, We were both college bound. Each of us to gather
knowledge for our future career. Kenny in Aviation and for me so many
avenues I could take but couldn’t make a decision. I was doing
24-hour Home Health Care for a "bed-ridden" stroke victim,
working at a domestic violence shelter for women and completing a
degree in Administration.
Kenny joined the National Guard to acquire his dream of becoming a pilot.
After completing his Basic Training, he came home on a short leave. We
visited one another, shared stories and I guess, on that day I "changed my
stars". I realized that the military could also enhance my life. Kenny was
stationed at Ft. Eustis, Virginia and I at Ft. Lee, Virginia. We constantly
wrote and took weekend passes together. Ever since, it has been one adventure after
another.

After
graduating from training, we were both stationed at Company E-130th
aviation/helicopter unit in Salisbury, NC. I accepted a full
time position with military records, while Kenny worked in
construction. Unfortunately, Kenny's dream of becoming a pilot
suddenly became shattered by the inappropriate and unjust actions of a
state trooper. Kenny's orders to attend flight school were revoked.
Joining a military police unit was Kenny's next quest. His heart's strength
has always displayed generosity, honesty, sincerity, fairness and lawfulness; not corruptness of unjust acts. Kenny set out to prove that
officers of the law can be just and moral to citizens.
A representative of Pre-Paid legal came to the unit one day, and gave a
brief presentation to all the guardsmen. The membership was being offered
to the guardsmen as a benefit. Kenny knew at that moment that he would like
to wrap this blanket of protection around himself and his loved ones.
Today we are both representatives of Pre-Paid legal services.
